SAINT Volunteer Transportation
Service Program(s) and description:
Senior Services
SAINT (Senior
Alternatives IN Transportation) is a volunteer based ride service
for seniors and people with
disabilities. Volunteers use their own
cars to give
rides to any destination in the city.
Goal is to keep people independent by
providing necessary transportation to all the goods and services they need to
maintain a reasonable quality of life.
We serve . . .
Residents of Fort Collins (and Loveland) who are either age
60 and above or
have a disability that prevents them from driving.
Location and days/hours of service:
We operate within the
city limits of Fort Collins and Loveland (but not between
the two towns) Monday through Friday
from 8:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
However we are only in the office in the morning to schedule the rides.

Volunteer drivers use their own cars to give rides to
seniors and people with disabilities.
Regular drivers typically drive a four
hour shift once per week. Back-up
drivers are
called whenever a regular is not available.
SAINT provides a mileage reimbursement
and extra insurance. Back ground checks
are required."
Benefits we derive
from participation in Interfaith Council:
In addition to occasional grant funding, participation in
the Interfaith Council provides
SAINT with access to other organizations
that are serving the same clients in Fort Collins.
Transportation is a basic need for
elderly residents since all of the services for that
population require the ability to travel
to the providers. Shared advocacy for
seniors
and people with disabilities in our community increases the likely hood of
improving
their health, living conditions and overall quality of life.
